“I’ve been attending Parkcrest since 2009. I’m an HSM leader and I’m involved with Celebrate Recovery and have gone through a 12-step study. That has led to an opportunity to be a part of a team that is starting The Landing, a ministry for students that will walk with them as they pursue the life-changing truths of freedom found throughout Scripture. In addition, I’ve worked with Children’s Ministry, been involved with the college group, and have hosted my own small group. Through forming a family in Christ here, I feel at home, where I am constantly spurred to grow in my faith.”
Adam and Shae moved to Long Beach and started attending Parkcrest a year and a half ago after living in South Korea for two years teaching English. They quickly got involved at Parkcrest and joined a Home Community, who they now consider family. Adam is on the tech team and runs sound for our Sunday services and Shae volunteers with hosting and the communion prep team. Adam and Shae both have black belts in TaeKwonDo. Along with their son AJ, they enjoy being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
Manny & Yvonne met at a dance studio and began attending Parkcrest in 2006, while they were still dating. Manny is a drummer and has played on the Worship Team. In addition, he’s also been in the Medical Ministry. Yvonne has been part of the Easter choir in the past. Manny & Yvonne have attended marriage retreats and they say God is the foundation of their marriage and family. They appreciate being connected with God and in community with other people at Parkcrest. Their family, which now includes their daughters, Celeste and Elysse, loves music and dancing as well as hiking and camping.
“We have been attending Parkcrest since 2002. During our time at Parkcrest we have ushered, hosted, worked as light and sound technicians, and participated in serve days. In addition we have served in Student and Children’s Ministries, and facilitated and participated in small groups. We have always been able to serve either individually or as a family, and through our volunteering at Parkcrest, we have grown closer to God and each other.”
Brandon and Jillian, along with their two young sons, have been attending Parkcrest for almost four years. They are growing in their faith at our church through involvement in two small groups, Celebrate Recovery, and step studies. Brandon and Jillian recently renewed their wedding vows.
The Piazza family loves serving at Parkcrest. Giovanni and Jennifer lead our Financial Freedom class. In addition, Giovanni is a greeter and Jennifer helps with the summer kids’ programs. Along with their daughter, Marissa, they have served at the Gift Mart and the Tree Lighting. As they look back on their six years at Parkcrest they are overwhelmed by their spiritual growth. If you get a chance to talk to Giovanni you might notice that he has a slight French accent. He emigrated from France about 15 years ago.
Roger and Rachel have been attending Parkcrest for five years. They host a Home Community for young married couples and Roger is an emcee in Unplugged. “Being involved at Parkcrest has allowed us to meet and connect with people who we now consider family.” Roger, Rachel, and their daughter Elodie enjoy family trips to local coffee shops, being creative, and weekend dance parties.
“When we first started coming to Parkcrest four years ago we immediately felt welcome and were loved and accepted just as we were. We’ve been involved with HSM, Life Hurts God Heals, summer camps, Tumaini, Financial Peace University, Parkcrest softball league, and we host a small group. Because of Parkcrest, God is at the center of all facets of our life.”
We joined Parkcrest in 2006 and it has been a huge blessing. We’ve enjoyed giving back in many ways. John volunteers in the Worship Center with the camera, computers, and lighting. Renee helps out in the office. Katie & Kristi volunteer in Children’s Ministry as they both have a huge heart for kids. We’ve also enjoyed meeting other people at Parkcrest on mission trips to Tijuana, Beach Clean-ups, Parkcrest At The Beach, and Parkcrest softball. Katie says, “Student Ministries have meant more to me than anything. The group has challenged me, supported me, and strengthened my faith.”
6Christian & Heather met at Parkcrest in 2007. You might recognize them as they both sing on our Worship Team. Along with their daughters, Mia & Kylie, they are very involved at Parkcrest. Heather says that Parkcrest has allowed them to experience a fuller, richer life by developing a deeper relationship with Christ through intentional relationships with others. If you’ve been around Parkcrest awhile you might remember the singing group, “True Faith,” of which Christian was one of the members. Heather works at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital as a nursing manager, the same hospital she was born in 35 years ago!
